Update 22:3.2020: Ruka and Pyhä Ski Resorts will close on Monday 23rd of March 2020
Ruka and Pyhä ski resorts will end the ski season on Monday 23 March 2020. Ski slopes will close at Ruka at 7 pm and Pyhä at 6 pm. We will not make new reservations for Ski-Inn accommodation. Unused lift tickets and payments for rental equipment will be returned to customers. Currently we have significantly fewer customers than normal, but we want to make sure our customer numbers are no longer rising. We do not recommend traveling to ski resorts at this point.
-The decision was very difficult but it is the only right decision to be made at this point where we all have responsibility to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and above all to ensure the health and wellbeing of our staff and customers in this exceptional situation, Ville Aho, the CEO and family entrepreneur of Rukakeskus Oy and Pyhätunturi Oy states.
Closing down ski resorts for this winter season in such exceptional circumstances requires a great deal of action and the decision will have an impact on the situation of tens of entrepreneurs, hundreds of workers and thousands of customers. It is our wish that this extraordinary situation should be managed responsibly concerning all parties involved.
-We kindly ask for understanding from all in this very exceptional situation. We understand the impact of this decision on all the great entrepreneurs in both resorts but we believe and will do our utmost that we will make through this with cooperation, Aho says.
We thank everyone for the past winter season and welcome our guests to enjoy the joy of snow and skiing next season. Summer opening hours will be announced later.
The Finnish winter season begins at Ruka already on the 2nd of October 2020 and opening goal for Pyhä’s ski slopes is the 19th of November 2020. See you at the slopes then.
